DESCRIPTION
The Principal Linear Operations will oversee both the day-to-day and long term operations strategy for the Amazon Live FAST Channel. This role will work cross functionally with Amazon Live Stakeholders, including Sr Leadership, Operations, Production, Creative, Social, and Marketing. Additionally, the Principal, Linear Operations will lead the scaling of the department in order to meet and anticipate the overall business needs of the Organization. This role operates in a high-visibility, live production environment, so the ability to quickly solve crises with cross-functional teams while maintaining a cool head is paramount to success. This is a fully on-site position in our New York City office.
Key job responsibilities
* Own and run the Operation of the Amazon Live 24/7 FAST Channel, working with stakeholders across all teams within the Amazon Live Org and working backwards to align organizational goals with the day-to-day needs of the Linear Channel.
* Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the channel, including running daily staff meetings, maintaining best practices as it relates to Broadcasting (Video/Audio quality, Metadata, Playlisting within Amagi system, Live insertion) and problem solving issues as they occur in a scalable manner
* Create and implement multi-year strategy to scale operations to include additional distribution endpoints and an unlimited number of live broadcasts per day
* Develop, Mentor, and scale a Team of freelancers to support the Operational goals of the channel, including increased live content outside of core business hours and further integration of Prime Video (and other internal Amazon) content
* Owner of all vendor relationships, present and future, needed to run the channel.
* As part of Channel Leadership Team, own the technical pipeline which includes expert knowledge of industry trends which can be added seamlessly in order to further scale the operation. This includes additional vendors and/or signal deliver solutions, as needed
* As part of Channel Leadership Team, contribute to long term strategies and goals documents which will be presented to greater Amazon Live Leadership
* Manage annual budgets for the Channel, including contractors and new business
* Act as Channel’s POC to other departments/organizations within Amazon, including Prime Video and FireTV (Live Operations, Product and overall PV FAST Business/Vendor relationships)
* Manage technical editing of Linear projects, with communication and coordination with creative teams
* On-call for select weekends and nights as needed

Amazon Shoppable Videos (ASV) is a growing business within the Amazon Advertising, IMDb and Grand Challenge business unit. ASV is delivering the video shopping experience to Amazon consumers, with a purpose to enable customers to find inspiration, information, entertainment, and community through videos at any point in their shopping journey. The ASV team designs, builds and operates both owned and operated destination experiences (amazon.com/live, Amazon Live on Prime Video and FireTV Channels), as well as federated experiences across the Amazon.com website. As the Principal, Linear Operations, you will wield significant influence in shaping the future of the linear channel.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
- 1 years of end to end product delivery experience
- 10 years of blending product and program management skills to execute strategic initiatives about process creation, standardization, and improvement experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with product cycles of 6 months
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience as a product manager or owner
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience owning technology products

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $145,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
