Amazon’s Global Talent Management and Compensation (GTMC is responsible for managing all aspects of Amazon employees' careers, from onboarding to exit. We build intelligent products that are used by employees, their managers and senior leadership to grow, develop and reward Amazon’s talent. The domains we cover include career development, talent evaluation, employee-role matching, promotions, organizational design and succession planning, and new areas that address the evolving needs of our diverse employee base.

GTMC has an opportunity for a Principal Product Manager-Tech to join the organization. This role will own the long-term strategy and product vision for transforming our current portfolio of 20 products into a simplified, connected, and continuous talent management system that supports employees, managers, executives, and Human Resource users.

Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Product Manager – Tech, you'll be an individual contributor who owns the long-term strategy and product vision for transforming our current portfolio of 20 products into a simplified, connected, and continuous talent management system that supports employees, managers, executives, and HR users.

You’ll be responsible for managing the end-to-end product lifecycle and leading cross-functional teams to deliver on your product roadmap by identifying common requirements and crafting adoption strategies that span products. Your product management expertise will enable you to look around corners, mitigate risks, and effectively escalate to unblock delivery. You’ll lead customer, stakeholder, and partner engagements to help set priorities, and drive trade-off decisions between customer benefit and complexity. You’ll use data and anecdotes to craft crisp, compelling, and well-reasoned documents to drive strategic alignment with senior leaders and communicate measurable results. You’ll provide regular written updates to senior leaders, partners, and stakeholders to provide progress against goals.

As a Principal Product Manager – Tech in GTMC SIERRA, your day will be a mix of meetings and heads-down time for strategic planning and tactical execution. You’ll meet with customers and peers across product, engineering, applied science, research science, data science, economics, and UX. You’ll seek to understand customer impact, business value, and opportunities for collaboration. You’ll work across teams to break down silos, drive transparency, and accelerate product delivery. The work you deliver has a direct impact on the future portfolio of products for GTMC.

About the team
This role is within the SIERRA (Science, Insights, Experience, Research, Reporting & Analytics) team. SIERRA is an organization within GTMC that is a horizontal, multi-disciplinary organization whose mission is to be a force multiplier for the broader GTMC organization and our key customer cohorts. We accomplish this by using our expertise in data analytics and science, economics, machine learning (ML), UX, I/O psychology, and engineering to build insights and experiences that raise the bar in understanding and shaping decision making at scale by integrating within and across talent journeys as well as through self-service tools and closed loop mechanisms outside of those journeys. Our portfolio of products spans foundational data sources, metrics, and research through to finished features and products that our end-customers interact with on a daily basis.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 8 years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with end to end product delivery
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience technical product management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
- Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
