Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated, technically savvy Fiber Engineer to help develop and scale one of the world’s largest and most complex networks.
The ideal candidate will possess a technical background with a strong working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and should also have a demonstrated ability to create fiber network design, drawing, scope of work other necessary technical documentation, and associated processes. He/She should have demonstrated ability to think logically about technical challenges, with the ability to break down and resolve issues independently. As well as:
- Experience working in GIS Systems
- Engineering and process design methodology
- Understanding of Underground Construction Techniques
- Understanding of Outside and Inside Plant Cabling and Routing
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
- Ability to work across multiple time zones

Key job responsibilities
As a Fiber Engineer, you will have the exciting opportunity to help create design fiber solutions, processes, and maintain records surrounding our fiber optic infrastructure. You will:
- Interface with internal (Network Engineers, Business Developers, Deployment Engineers, Tool Automation) and external stakeholders (Construction Vendors, Engineering Firms, )
- Create engineering design and documents, single line drawings and cable routing and splicing work packages.
- Ingest and audit GIS data for completeness and accuracy
- Implement process improvements across multiple stakeholders

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or MS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
- 2 years experience working in GIS Systems.
- 3 years experience in project/program management with a proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
- 5 years of outside/inside plant engineering experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Programming language to assist in data and GIS analysis
