Description :

The Director of Operations is responsible for the strategic direction, financial management, and process flow of the yard warehouse, transportation, shipping / receiving, and manufacturing operations. This role provides leadership to managers and supervisors overseeing yard, fleet, and steel plant functions. As a member of the management team, this position works collaboratively to ensure exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize material flow, ensuring timely receipt and delivery to maximize building completions.
• Oversee production and quality control processes to meet customer service standards.
• Identify and implement continuous process improvements by resolving problems and analyzing trends.
• Provide coaching, direction, and leadership to ensure seamless collaboration within the Operations team and the broader company.
• Manage inventory forecasting, budgeting, and expense control for yard and steel plant operations.
• Optimize warehouse operations, including product handling, storage, layout design, and equipment utilization.
• Develop, implement, and enforce Operations policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.
• Control and minimize overtime and repair / maintenance costs at all locations.
• Ensure proper facility and equipment maintenance, updating capital expenditure (CapEx) strategies when necessary.
• Lead and enforce safety initiatives, embedding safety as a daily operational priority.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships, working collaboratively to resolve supply chain issues.
• Oversee DOT compliance for company operations.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends through ongoing education and professional development.
