Position Overview:
AMC Marine Sales & Service is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Marine Service Expeditor. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring efficient operations within our dealership by facilitating the movement of boats, assisting with parts management, and providing exceptional customer service. The Service Expeditor will work closely with service technicians, Service advisor, service manager, customers, and other team members to contribute to the overall success of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport and maneuver boats within the dealership lot using trucks, tractors, and forklifts.
- Coordinate the movement and placement of boats to optimize space utilization and accessibility.
- Assist in the process of launching and retrieving boats into/from the water.
- Collaborate with the service team to gather necessary parts and equipment for ongoing service projects.
- Maintain accurate records of boat movement, parts retrieval, and other related tasks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with trailer unhooking and hooking, as well as answering basic inquiries.
- Support the service technicians in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Monitor inventory levels of frequently used parts and communicate replenishment needs to the parts department.
- Assist in the cleaning and preparation of boats for customer delivery or display.
- Follow established safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and handling boats.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs for equipment, vehicles, or facilities to the appropriate personnel.
- Participate in regular training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to boat handling, safety, and customer service.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Experience in boat handling, transportation, or a related field is a plus.
- Proficiency in operating trucks, tractors, forklifts, and related equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to changing priorities.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
- Prior experience in a marine or automotive dealership is beneficial.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with boat components is a plus.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
The Service Expeditor role involves working primarily outdoors, often in varying weather conditions. The job requires physical exertion, including lifting, bending, and moving heavy objects. The use of safety equipment and adherence to safety guidelines is essential.
