What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Insurance Biller position at AMC Urgent Care Plus?
Primary duty will be patient debt collection and some insurance collections. Pursues collection of all claims till payment is made by insurance companies. Performs other work associated with the billing process. Deals with third party insurance company personnel, has regular contact with patients and medical staff to ensure claims are paid timely and accurately.
We are currently transitioning from Centricity billing and paper charting to Athena One EMR. This process is necessary to close out claims and complete billing for patients.
Follows-up with third party insurance carriers on unpaid claims till claims are paid or only self pay balance remains.
Processes rejections by either making accounts private and generating a letter of rejection to patient or correct any billing error and resubmitting claims to third party insurance carriers.
Works with physician or medical record staff to ensure that correct diagnosis/procedures are reported to third party insurance carriers.
Makes accounts private and notify patients when claims have not been paid after time frames in established accounts receivable policy.

Qualifications
- Familiar with medical coding, CPT and ICD-10.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical records management.
- Experience with EHR systems- Centricity and AthenaOne.
- Background in medical collections and medical office operations.
- Familiarity with Urgent Care or Primary Care medical coding practices.
