Job Summary:
We are AmCare Medical Group, a Primary Care medical clinic serving Hayward and Fremont areas in California. We are establishing a blood draw station for the convenience of our patients who are finding the experience of making appointments and going to Labs very frustrating.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for drawing blood samples from patients for laboratory testing. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to provide a comfortable experience for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture, fingersticks, and heelsticks to obtain blood samples from patients of all ages.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of blood samples.
- Follow established protocols and procedures for collecting and transporting specimens.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Update patient records accurately and promptly.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and address any concerns.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide necessary first aid.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Assist in inventory management of phlebotomy supplies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a certified phlebotomy training program.
- Current phlebotomy certification (e.g., CPT, RPT) preferred.
- Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen handling.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Experience with Quest and/or LabCorp systems is a plus.
- Experience with EPIC EMR system is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision.
- Manual dexterity for handling laboratory equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a Primary Care medical clinical setting.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials.
