We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our Home Health agency team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection, ensuring patient comfort, and adhering to laboratory protocols and transporting specimen to the lab. This role is crucial in supporting patient care and diagnostic processes within the community at patient's residence.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures for blood sampling with precision and care.
- Collect specimens according to established laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Process and label specimens accurately to ensure proper identification and tracking.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety standards and infection control practices.
- Document patient information, including vital signs, medical history, and any relevant details in accordance with medical terminology standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, alleviate concerns, and provide exceptional patient care.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and accurate test results.
- Stay updated on laboratory techniques, equipment usage, and advancements in phlebotomy practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a phlebotomy training program is preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and vital signs is essential.
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques related to blood sampling and specimen collection processing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients.
