Job Description
Electrical Engineer I is the first working level of the engineering series. To provide electrical engineering support for production operations and the continuous improvement of machine and equipment controls.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Acts as an electrical engineering resource to assist Maintenance Technicians troubleshoot machine control problems when additional resources, skills, or knowledge are required to solve the problem.
- Manages machine and equipment upgrade projects including investigations, cost estimates, installations, and start-up. This can include expense type projects as well as capital upgrade projects.
- Learns new capital equipment operation, controls structure / design, and hardware in order to build knowledge and proficiency to support and implement effective maintenance.
- Assist Project Engineering with equipment installation, checkout, start-up and training as necessary.
- Is aware of industry standard and strives to improve and implement safety. Examples are National and State Electrical codes and NFPA70E (arc flash) codes.
- Key resource for the completion of preventative maintenance on electrical substations and high voltage switchgear. This includes documentation of observations, testing, and follow-up actions.
- Participates as a team member on equipment project teams, safety teams, and continuous improvement teams to continuously improve operations (including safety, quality, service, and costs).
