We are looking for a skilled Accounting Insurance Specialist to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks. Insurance-related billing and compliance work is preferred. Responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, answering agent questions, reconciling payments received, process surplus line tax payments, company payments, GA payments, and agency payments. You will run insurance agency statements, pay commissions, process cancelations/reinstatements, review documents for appriate billings, and work with the states for surplus tax reporting.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile premiums due from internal system to vendors reports
- Process Cancelations, Reinstatements, and DNOC for accounting-related reasons
- Coordinate payment with premium finance companies
- Process Direct Bill Commissions
- Process surplus lines tax
- Document Review and Quality control check
- Run Agency Statement
- Commission Payments
- Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
- Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings, and statements
- Daily enter key data of financial transactions in internal database
- Provide assistance and support to agents' inquiries
- Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
- Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
- Research accounting-related matters and coordinate with other departments on needed process
Skills
- Insurance billing background preferred
- Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts receivable clerk or Accounts payable clerk or Insurance Billing administrator
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency in MS Office and QuickBooks accounting software
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers
- Ability to perform filing and record-keeping tasks
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Well organized
