Controller

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller with cost to complete heavy highway construction background to join our team. As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This is a key leadership role that requires strong financial analysis skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively manage a team.

Duties:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department
- Manage financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal controls
- Manage payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely payment to employees
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits
- Provide guidance and support to other departments on financial matters
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices

- Union Payroll

- Sage 300, Heavy Job, HCSS
- Proficient in financial analysis and reporting
- Experience in public accounting is preferred
- Familiarity with payroll processing and related regulations
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Proficient in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Excellent budgeting skills and ability to forecast financial performance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective financial report writing
