Project Engineer - Wastewater Treatment
Description

Duties:
- All planning and design aspects of a project, including preparation and development of alternative analyses, reports, design plans, specifications, cost estimates, calculations, and permit applications.
- Preparation of detailed designs for new installations and rehabilitation of existing water/wastewater collection/distribution/transmission systems, pump stations, and treatment plants.
- Leadership of junior engineers and small design teams.
- Coordination and collaboration with various disciplines and sub-consultants handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.
- Direct communication with clients to determine needs and provide solutions.
- Assistance in business development efforts and proposal preparation.
- Travel as needed for client meetings, project site visits, etc.
- Maintenance of knowledge on changes in the field by attending client meetings, etc.
- Tracking and reporting of contract costs against detailed contract budgets; preparing cost reports and schedules for project manager and management.
- Review and understanding of project cost estimates.
- Preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets and reporting of key performance indicators for the project.
- Provision of continuous project reporting with accurate and timely information that includes budget, commitments, forecast, variances, change management, progress, risk & opportunity, contingency, cash flow, and resource planning.
- Support for accounts receivable as required during billing processing. Monitoring of billing status and unbilled issues, working with Finance, Contracts, Accounting, and Procurement to resolve issues promptly.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education and Experience:
- Associate/Technical degree in environmental science, chemistry, or related field and extensive progressively responsible experience in wastewater treatment plant operations including supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licenses and/or Certifications:
- Master's degree
- Educational background: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Work experience: Four (4) years of hands-on experience in water treatment or similar.
- Bachelor's degree
- Educational background: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Work experience: Five (5) years of hands-on experience in water treatment or similar.
- Valid driver's license.

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of wastewater treatment practices, methods, and related equipment, including water testing equipment and safety precautions.
- Good knowledge of local and state regulations governing wastewater treatment operations.
- Skill in operating and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Supervisory, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to pass a red and green color blindness test.
Work Environment:
- Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme noise, odors, heights, dust, and hazardous materials.
- Employees will also experience a normal office setting with access to coffee, refreshments, and occasional snacks.
- Essential Physical Activities:
