Land Surveyor - Party/Crew Chief

Amercom is seeking a qualified Land Surveyor - Party/Crew Chief with 5 to 10 years' experience to work in our Roadway, Bridge and Transit/Rail Design Division.

The Party/Crew Chief is responsible for collecting all required field data for the preparation of a variety of surveying projects survey instrumentation, which includes robotic total stations, and GNSS/GPS. The candidate will also collect field measurements and data and provide stake-out at the direction of the Survey Manager. The candidate must be willing to work outside year round and must be capable of moderate to full physical activity.

Required Skills

• Prepare field notes, photographs and sketches
• Collect boundary and topographic field measurements
• Responsible downloading conventional and GPS field data
• Recover and measure real property evidence
• Perform construction layout
• Ability to rotate, translate and calculate survey points in the field
• Equipment maintenance and calibration
• Oversees the training & development of the Assistant Field Technician
• On site client communication
• Participate in Health and Safety Program

Preferred Education and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Crew/Party Chief
• Associates Degree in land surveying or equivalent/a Plus
• Experience running robotic total stations and GNSS/GPS required
• Sokkia and Topcon Experience a plus
• Certification as an LSIT is a plus
• Project experience with public agencies such as NJDOT, NJTA and NJ Transit
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
