Overview
Responsible for performing a wide variety of duties including clerical and accounting duties, analysis of SBA and other member business loan requests, compiling reports and other support duties related to SBA Lending Services. Receives, reviews and processes SBA loan documents, maintains loan application files and other duties related to the processing and servicing of the SBA loan portfolio. Conducts loan risk analyses as assigned and authorized by Manager. Ensures that members, prospective members and employees are promptly and professionally served. Performs other support functions as assigned.
Responsibilities
1. Assumes responsibility for effective performance of assigned clerical functions
a. Answers incoming division/department calls; takes messages and directs calls to appropriate personnelb. Provides receptionist coverage as assignedc. Completes weekly department ordering functions as assignedd. Maintains and prepares training packets used in monthly SBA training sessionse. Assists and supports department personnel as neededf. Addresses questions and problems promptly, courteously and professionallyg. Prepares reports and records promptly and accurately as assignedh. Attends and participates in meetings &/or training sessions as assigned
2. Assumes responsibility for effectively receiving, reviewing and processing SBA applications
a. Creates file and evaluates for completeness, eligibility and additional required information. Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria and loan documentation in a manner which elicits a positive response from the borrower(s) and branch personnel. b. Obtains and reviews credit ratings, calculates a Required Draw or DSCR ratio, and coordinates with branch employee &/or borrower(s) to obtain all necessary information and documentation.c. Conducts the appropriate risk assessment/analysis for member business loan applications received.d. Tracks and updates loan status from application to funding, keeping department management constantly apprised of pipeline status. Communicates all problems and concerns in a timely and effective manner.i. Process, procedure or communication issuesii. Training issues and needsiii. Service issues and needse. Coordinates loan closings with MBL, borrower(s) and branchesf. Responsible for loan documents being sent to closing branchesi. Documents prepared accurately; clear closing instructions for branchesii. Other documents requiring signatures sent with closing documentsg. Responsible for maintaining completed loan files after closing &/or ensuring that documents are imaged appropriatelyh. Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant.i. Stays informed regarding compliance, process and regulatory changes.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationship with members
a. Ensures that members’ requests, questions and issues are promptly and courteously resolved.b. Ensures that the Credit Union’s quality and professional reputation are projected and maintained.c. Communicates effectively with members whose loan requests are denied, explaining reasons and alternatives.
4. Assumes responsibility for assisting with loan servicing functions as assigned
a. Receives and processes disbursement requests promptly & accurately, including document imagingb. Processes payment of SBA loan fees and maintains accurate records of suchc. Assists with resolving Exception List items as assignedd. Assists with updating and maintaining SBA loan files and collateral-related items as assignede. Ensures proper maintenance, cleanliness and security of work area, including appropriately securing information and documents containing private or confidential information5. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with Credit Union personnel and management
a. Coordinates activities with other departments and facilitates effective communication as neededb. Supports training assignments and functions as needed and assignedc. Communicates all concerns and problems to management timely and effectivelyd. Attends and participates in meetings as requirede. Completes special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Training/Education/Certification:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Coursework in general office skills
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures
- Knowledge of related computer applications including TellerPro, LoanPro, CSAir, Flex, Imaging, Word, Excel and other web applications
Experience Required:
- New Accounts or teller experience preferred
- One year general office experience, preferably in financial environment

- Strong word processing skills

- Able to use PC and related applications, printer, phones and basic business equipment
