POSITION PURPOSE
IT Consultant role specializing in IT Infrastructure. This role will lead efforts in managing, optimizing, and securing IT systems and networks, providing innovative infrastructure solutions that enhance performance, scalability, and reliability. As a trusted advisor, you will assess current infrastructure needs, propose forward-thinking solutions, and implement efficient, scalable, and secure IT infrastructures that meet the evolving needs of our business and clients.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESULTS
IT Consultant focused on infrastructure in supporting key IT functions like IT Operations (IT Ops) Manager, IT Administrators, and Solution Architects.
Infrastructure Optimization : Recommend improvements to the existing network, server, and storage infrastructure to optimize performance, reduce costs, and ensure scalability. For example, optimizing network traffic flow or implementing load balancing across multiple servers.
Automation of IT Processes : Help implement automation tools to reduce manual efforts in patching, provisioning new servers, or managing configurations. This leads to more streamlined operations and reduces human error.Capacity Planning : Work with the IT Ops Manager to analyze current system performance, predict future capacity needs, and recommend upgrades or scaling solutions. This could involve advising on cloud adoption or the implementation of virtualized environments to better handle growing traffic or data.Cybersecurity and Disaster Recovery Planning : Collaborate with the IT Ops team to support cybersecurity activities and design and test disaster recovery plans. The consultant might recommend cloud-based solutions for backup and failover strategies, ensuring business continuity during unexpected disruptions.Solutions Architect :Infrastructure Design & Architecture : Collaborate with the Solution Architect to design an infrastructure that supports both on-premise and cloud-based applications. For example, recommending a hybrid cloud approach using Azure public cloud and on-premise private cloud to achieve scalability and flexibility while maintaining security and compliance.
Cloud Strategy & Migration : Assist the Solution Architect in creating a cloud migration strategy, including selecting the appropriate cloud strategy (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and planning the migration of services like databases, applications, or storage to the cloud. This could also involve setting up cloud environments to support the new solution.Integration with Existing Systems : Advise the Solution Architect on how to integrate the new infrastructure solution with existing on-premise or third-party systems, ensuring compatibility and smooth data flow. For example, integrating CRM systems with cloud storage or ensuring seamless communication between local and cloud-based databases.High Availability & Disaster Recovery : Help design high-availability systems that ensure uptime and resilience. The IT consultant might work with the Solution Architect to configure clustering, load balancing, and backup solutions to meet the organization's needs for 24 / 7 availability and disaster recovery.IT Administrator :System Configuration and Management : Guide the IT administrator on setting up servers, storage solutions, and network components in line with best practices. For example, helping them configure Active Directory or setting up VPN connections to ensure secure remote access.Cybersecurity Enhancements : Help implement and configure security tools, such as firewalls, encryption, and IDS / IPS systems, to protect the organization's infrastructure from cyber threats.Software and Patch Management : Recommend tools and practices for managing software patches and updates across the infrastructure, such as using WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) or automated patch management solutions to ensure systems are always up-to-date and secure.SKILLS REQUIRED
Technical Skills : Infrastructure design, networking, cloud platforms, security, disaster recovery, virtualization, monitoring, automation, and scripting.Analytical & Problem-Solving : Troubleshooting, capacity planning, risk management.Collaboration & Communication : Working with IT functions, stakeholder engagement, documentation.Project Management : Infrastructure project planning, vendor management, Agile practices.Networking : TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, load balancing.Cloud Platforms : Azure, AWS or GCP. Microsoft Azure preferred.Virtualization : VMware, Hyper-V, containers (Docker, Kubernetes.) Hyper-V preferred.Security : Firewalls, IDS / IPS, encryption, IAM (Active Directory, Okta.) Azure active directory preferred.Disaster Recovery & Backup : Azure regional pairs, high availability, failover systems, DR planning.Automation & Scripting : PowerShell, Bash, Bicep and Terraform Infrastructure as Code, Azure Pipelines YML.Troubleshooting : Identifying and resolving complex infrastructure issues.Stakeholder Management : Working with IT Ops, Administrators, Solution Architects.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.Strong communication skills and ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network , Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
Proven experience as an IT Consultant or in IT infrastructure roles (e.g., System Administrator, Network Engineer, IT Architect).10 years expertise in designing and managing IT infrastructure (e.g., servers, cloud services, storage, networking).REQUIREMENTS
