The Department of Radiation OncologyMedical Physics - Open RankThe Department of Radiation Oncology, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is currently recruiting for a faculty position in Medical Physics (radiation therapy track). The successful candidate should hold a DMP or PhD degree in Medical Physics or related field. Preference will be given to candidates that have a strong clinical and research background and are ABR certified or eligible for certification. Faculty rank and tenure status will be determined on the qualification of the final candidate.UT Health MD Anderson Cancer Center is recognized as an NCI Designated Cancer Center, located in San Antonio, Texas, near the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The division of Medical Physics maintains five linear accelerators, including a Novalis Tx unit and four ELEKTA VersaHD, and a Siemens GoPro CT simulator.Our brachytherapy program includes HDR for gynecological cancers and prostate brachytherapy. There are several active clinical and research programs in the areas of IMRT, SGRT, SRS, SBRT, Monte Carlo simulation, 4D treatment planning, IGRT, and adaptive radiotherapy. The Division of Medical Physics currently has 6 faculty medical physicists, 5 dosimetrists, 12 doctoral students (PhD and DMP track), 2 medical physics residents, and 3 dosimetry students.The successful candidate will possess the ability to work well in a strong team environment and have excellent communication skills. UT Health San Antonio has two CAMPEP accredited graduate medical physics programs (PhD and DMP tracks), a CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency program, and a dosimetry program accredited by JRCERT. It is expected that the new faculty member will teach courses both in the graduate and the dosimetry schools, and mentor DMP, doctoral students, and medical physics residents.
