The Associate Director for Application Services reports to the Senior Director for Admissions and Recruitment Affairs and is responsible for managing, developing, and overseeing AAVMC's Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS) activities. This individual facilitates communications with technology partner Liaison International, manages application enhancements and product development, and works on projects related to applicant development. The Associate Director collaborates regularly with AAVMC staff, association members, external association partners, and the public.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the centralized application system for veterinary medical colleges (VMCAS), ensuring efficient daily and annual operations.
  • Lead the annual VMCAS launch, including testing all products, system updates, and updating relevant materials.
  • Continually monitor, maintain, and improve VMCAS platform to enhance user experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Establish and track VMCAS goals focused on quality, customer service and best practices in admissions.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with admissions staff at participating and prospective VMCAS programs.
  • Identify problems and determine solutions in partnership with Liaison International, addressing challenges on an ongoing and annual basis.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between AAVMC member institutions and Liaison International for VMCAS enhancements and customer service support.
  • Manage the administration of the VMCAS fee waiver program.
  • Manage annual updates and improvements to the Veterinary Medical School Admissions Requirements (VMSAR) website.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director for Admissions and Recruitment Affairs to improve applicant resources on the AAVMC and VetMedPathways websites.
  • Develop tools and resources to support the admissions efforts of AAVMC member institutions related to VMCAS.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the AAVMC Admissions & Recruitment Committee alongside the Senior Director of Admission and Recruitment Affairs.
  • Assist with admissions-related data and reports to support and enhance the activities of AAVMC.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director for Admissions and Recruitment Affairs.

  • EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in a related field.
  • At least three years of experience working in postsecondary (preferably health professions) admissions, student affairs, and / or a centralized application service.
  • General knowledge of student affairs issues affecting undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs.
  • General knowledge of the veterinary medicine profession, career opportunities in veterinary medicine, and educational requirements necessary for entry into the veterinary medicine profession preferred, OR general knowledge of health profession education and career opportunities.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, etc.
  • General knowledge of database applications and basic webpage content management.
  • TRAVEL

  • Some travel required (3-5 times a year).
