What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Estimator position at American Athletic Track and Turf?
About Us:
We are the East Coast’s Premier Running Track and Artificial Turf Field Builder. As a small, family-owned business we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional sports facilities for schools, universities, municipalities, and government clients. We also coordinate with trusted subcontractors to provide complete facility solutions including turf fields, bleachers, and other stadium infrastructure.
As we continue to expand, we’re looking for a Junior Estimator to join our team and support our bidding, pre-construction, and project management efforts. This role is perfect for someone early in their career who is eager to learn outdoor construction from beginning to end in a specialized construction industry.
About the Role:
The Junior Estimator will assist with preparing accurate and competitive bids for upcoming projects. You’ll work closely with senior estimators to analyze project plans, calculate costs, communicate with vendors and subcontractors, and ensure our bids are complete and competitive. Additionally, you’ll play a key part supporting projects post-award by creating and maintaining project schedules, coordinating material, equipment, and employee allocations, and other critical tasks to keep projects on track.
We’re looking for someone who understands how work is performed in the field and is ready to use that knowledge in the office and project management side. Your field experience will help you make smart decisions about how we plan, price, and execute our work.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience or interest in construction, civil engineering, or site development who wants to build a career in estimating and project management.
Key Responsibilities – Estimating:
- Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Help prepare detailed bid proposals and cost estimates using accurate supplier pricing, in-depth site measurements, and our own bidding process

Key Responsibilities – Post-Award:
- Work closely with project managers and field teams to plan and schedule projects
- Interface with field crews and provide backup support as needed
- Manage procurement of equipment and materials as needed
- Support CEO, VP, and other employees with daily operational tasks and project tracking
- Maintain up-to-date records of bids, proposals, and awarded projects
What We're Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field required
- Experience: 2 - 3 years working in heavy site-civil construction (field experience, estimating, or project coordination preferred)
- Knowledge of site work, paving, drainage, or sports facility construction is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- A team player who is eager to learn and grow in the role
- Proficient in project scheduling applications (Gantt Project or others)
