Specific Responsibilities
  • Supervise, assign duties, and monitor the progress of the ABT Production Staff of 20 with the direction of the Director of Production or in lieu of the Director of Production being on site. This includes fulltime staff, AGMA Stage Managers, Local 59 warehouse labor, and seasonal IATSE Crew.
  • Oversee local stagehands with the direction of the Director of Production or in lieu of the Director of Production being on site.
  • Act as lead onsite when Director of Production is unable to be present.
  • Along with the Director of Production, work closely with ABT Technical Director and Lighting Director to assess programming viability and establish best practices within the Production Department.
  • Assist the Director of Production in preparing all production budgets including supplies, rental and repair, trucking, warehouse costs, warehouse labor, crew weeks and salaries, overtime, and local venue crew costs.
  • Tracking and processing of all production department invoices and production expenses through P&L reports.
  • Assist the Director of Production in the creation of all technical schedules, and coordinate touring and performance schedules with all other ABT departments.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of all technical aspects of performing and touring. This includes planning and running of technical rehearsals; creating and modifying crew calls; and all equipment needs related to the production.
  • Work with the Director of Production, ABT Technical Director, and ABT Lighting Director to supervise load ins and load outs.
  • Assist the Director of Production during all IATSE Union negotiations.
  • Assist in the development and execution of contracts including vendors, artists, and crew.
  • Develop and assist in maintaining a robust archive of all aspects of ABT productions.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of domestic and international transportation needs for all tour related items.
  • Coordinate with the Company Management and Artistic Staff regarding general tour planning, and travel plans for designers and other non-ABT production personnel.
  • Develop, implement, execute, and maintain a robust rental program.
  • Coordinate rentals in and out from other Companies.
  • Assist in the maintenance and coordination of ABT warehouse, warehouse crews and all warehouse work.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and unions.
  • Attend all meetings as required.


Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • 6 years’ experience in production leadership preferably in a major cultural, academic, or not-for-profitorganization.
  • Experience interacting with designers, choreographers, artistic staff, and Board Members.
  • Proven abilitytobuildstrongrelationships and motivateandworkeffectivelywithcolleagues.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends, and extended hours.
  • Successful leadership of multi-disciplinary, high-performing teams, including production staff and union crews.
  • Ability to read and interpret all disciplines of theatrical technical drawings. Scenic, Lighting, Costume, Properties, Projection.
  • Comfortable and efficient with theatrical engineering and building.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and follow-upskills.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • VectorWorks and Office 365 Suite proficiency required. AutoCAD and LightWright skills a plus.
  • Ability to work in NYC and Secaucus, NJ when not on tour.
  • A good sense of humor with an abundance of optimism and can-do attitude.
  • Excellent listener and effective communicator.
  • Ability to know your limits and to ask questions.
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion.
  • Exceptional judgment and unquestioned integrity.
  • A high Emotional Quotient (EQ) relationship-manager at all levels.
  • Detail oriented with an understanding and appreciation for production value and time efficiency.
  • A team-oriented, collaborative style. Assisting in the managing of people is crucial to the success of this role. Ability and desire to mentor, provide inspirational leadership, build strong teams, and to work cross-departmentally to achieve results are essential.
