Job Title: Commercial Loan Operations Specialist & Assistant
Reports to: EVP, Chief Banking Officer
Position Summary: The Commercial Loan Operations Specialist & Assistant is responsible for supporting the commercial credit team in processing, servicing, and closing commercial loans. The role will be involved during all aspects of a commercial loan transaction from beginning to end. This will include areas such as due diligence, approval, closing, funding, booking, accounting, reporting functions, customer service, and quality control (QC). The ideal candidate will have both commercial loan operations and lending assistant experience.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain closing checklists for all loans.
- Order OFAC, flood certifications, due diligence reports, appraisals, and environmental assessments.
- Complete UCC and title searches.
- File and maintain UCC records.
- Maintain electronic and paper loan files.
- Act as a liaison between closing attorneys, title companies, borrowers, and lenders.
- Review loan documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Review and approve title work and settlement statements.
- Input ticklers and exceptions in the core application.
- Maintain proficiency with loan core applications (e.g., Horizon).
- Direct loan input (system boarding) and verification procedures for all loans.
- Ensure proper segregation of duties and develop workflows for all stages of loan input.
- Regularly QC the funding/booking process.
- Supervise all aspects of loan operations, including posting payments, payoffs, draw requests, balancing, and disbursing loan funds.
- Provide updates and procedural changes to lending staff and the Executive Team.
- Adhere to all National Banking Regulations and implement necessary changes or recommendations.
- Stay current on compliance and regulations by attending seminars and reading available information.
- Prepare timely Board, Call, and other various reports.
- Perform other related work and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little direction and supervision.
- Prior experience working in a similar role at a community bank (less than $1 billion in total assets)
- Strong knowledge of commercial loan processing, servicing, and compliance.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in loan core applications and other relevant software.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
