Therapeutic Community Coordinator (Staff on Duty)
Fulltime, Monday through Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm
Work site location: Airway Heights Corrections Center, Airway Heights, WA

The Therapeutic Community Coordinator plays a key role and is responsible for tracking and maintaining accurate records of all TC clients and provides Therapeutic Community supervision, leadership, and direction to the entire community both staff and clients. This position facilitates all Therapeutic Community processes while ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of the clients according to agency policies and WAC. This position works closely with Washington State Department of Corrections personnel, other institutional vendors, and off-site staff to ensure quality delivery of services according to contractual specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:
This is an entry level position. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Suite is required.
- An associate degree or higher in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Education, Counseling, operational management, or closely related field is preferred and Correctional Experience is preferred.
- Cannot have served any DOC prison time or DOC Community Supervision within the last five years.
- Applicant must be able to attend and pass a 17-day Correctional Worker CORE Academy within the first year of employment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, or stand; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and ability to talk and hear. The employee must be capable of occasional lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
1. Candidate must be able to work within a moderately restrictive prison environment.
2. Ensure that the SUD TC Program structure remains intact and responds to any instances that would compromise the program integrity.
3. Must ensure compliance with federal, state, and interagency regulations.
4. Facilitate and direct all Therapeutic Community (TC) activities.
5. Communicates with all on-duty staff as necessary to ensure that the program is being followed and that agency and state standards are being adhered to both in spirit and intent.
6. Model and enforce ABHS policies and procedures in a fair manner consistent with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
7. Must model the culture of excellent customer service as adapted by ABHS, as well as the Washington State Department of Corrections Mission Statement.
8. Understands and adheres to client confidentiality laws and assures that no information is shared without proper authorization.
9. Responds to and works in collaboration with the DOC Substance Abuse Recovery Unit (SARU) in an effective professional manner.
10. Foster effective teamwork and communication between all members.
11. May perform other duties and special assignment as assigned.
