What are the responsibilities and job description for the ACS CAN Volunteer Engagement Intern position at American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Inc.?
The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation's leading cancer advocacy organization. Together with our charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, we work in Congress, state legislatures and local jurisdictions to support evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
This is a remote, home-based internship and it can also be in person in Washington, DC. Full time students from all US geographies will be considered. Our 2025 Summer internship program is an 8-week Paid Internship that runs from June 2nd – July 25th, at 37.5 hours weekly. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses on American Cancer Society and ACS's Cancer Action Network. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society and ACS CAN.Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating training materials and trainer participant communications for ACS CANs Leadership Summit & Lobby Day and other events.
- Organize event evaluation data so it can guide event planners and trainers in 2025.
- Creating materials and templates in programs such as PowerPoint and Canva.
- Learning software processes and tools to support work efficiencies

- Support the annual Lights of Hope fundraise, including but not limited to:
- Day of event volunteer management.
- Day of event entertainment.
- Sponsor recognition.
- Create social media and other marketing materials.
- Copy Edit one volunteer story from each state.
- Coordinate logistics.
Position Requirements:
- Must be available for entirety of 8-week program: June 2 – July 25, 2025, at 37.5 hours per week.
- Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.
- Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale).
- Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester.

- Note: an internship assignment may coincide with your last term/trimester as a full-time student, but the internship must be disengaged upon graduation.
The rate for this position is $17.50/hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
