What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at American Care Medical Centers?
The Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) provides assistance to licensed health care providers and dispensing practitioners. The RPT perform responsibilities required for the proper and safe dispensing process of medications, in the medical practice.
- Registered Pharmacy Tech Essential Job Functions
- Obtains manufacturer sealed medications pill bottles for the licensed dispensing practitioner. Provides such bottles to the dispensing practitioner, for the dispensing practitioner to review and provide them to the patients, after proper labeling.
- Maintains and coordinates the pharmacy inventory and does weekly orders, if necessary, after approval and review by the dispensing practitioner. Ascertains with the dispensing practitioner that no expired medications are kept in stock and that any medication that is about to be expired in the next 30 days is returned to the manufacturer and properly logged.
- Maintain a digital and printed log of all medication that have been dispensed, discarded, packaged or returned to the manufacturer. Ascertains that the logs are signed by the dispensing practitioners on a daily basis. Maintains printed copies of all prescriptions properly organized.
- Assists in coordinating delivery of medications to patients by company drivers, when such patients are unable to come to pick up the medications refills at the dispensary due to an illness. Delivery of medications to the patient’s home must be discouraged and done only on an absolute necessity to maintain medication adherence by patients.
- Required Education and Experience
- High School or Technical school education.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician
- One year clerical experience or pharmacy supply experience
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience.
