Position Summary
As part of the Communications Marketing department, the Junior Graphic Designer will work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer and Director of Communications to provide graphic design services for association-wide advocacy and communications efforts, and for marketing needs to promote membership and events across a variety of channels including print, digital, social media, interactive and video. The Junior Designer role requires strong Adobe Creative Suite skills and experience designing materials such as reports, event sales and membership collateral, brochures, print and digital advertisements, infographics, and social media graphics – both still and animated. The incumbent should also have experience with video editing – including titles, audio, and coloring – to create and edit video collateral for social, website, advertisements, and events.
The position will work collaboratively with internal communications, marketing, and research teams to create compelling graphics and design materials to advance ACP’s mission and policy goals. This position will also collaborate with other departments and experts across the organization to support the trade association’s wide range of activity. The role will be expected to ensure consistency and maintain our brand identity across all our communications and marketing channels. Excellent communication skills, professionalism, organizational skills and a desire to learn the industry are necessary attributes for this position. The clean energy industry is a fast- paced, emerging space and ACP’s Communications and Marketing team reflects that and manages priorities accordingly. We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $55,000-70,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs. - Collaborate across multiple ACP teams with respective department goals to represent initiatives, campaigns, and events into a compelling visual format across digital and print mediums.
- Create and maintain fresh, audience-focused designs for report releases, social media, website, marketing, signature events. Examples of such work include:
- Research and organizational reports
- Graphics for speaking engagements
- Branded collateral for promoting membership and business development
- Infographics, fact sheets, and brochures
- Advertising assets
- Event graphics for email marketing
- Social media graphics, GIFs, video for ACP’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and Instagram)
- Produce and edit video projects to highlight, recap, and promote ACP endeavors – covering short social clips, promotional event videos, and educational pieces. Responsibilities include basic color correction, audio adjustments, title/caption integration, and adding motion graphics to align with ACP’s brand identity.
- Maintain the organization’s visual brand identity, including the use of logos, and develop branded assets for organization-wide use.
- Update and maintain existing design products, providing updates to key elements when needed.
- Maintain, organize, and build the repository of resources, including image and video libraries. This effort includes consulting the Senior Graphic Designer and Director of Communications when new visuals need to be requested from members or purchased.
- Consult and provide precise feedback on additional design and video projects to ensure branding is consistent across the organization.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset by applying feedback constructively and approaching both creative design projects and routine production tasks with equal enthusiasm.
- 1–2 years of experience in graphic design and video editing, or relevant internship/work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and After Effects) or equivalent tools.
- Experience with Canva and Figma preferred but not required.
- Intermediate knowledge of video editing, including color correction, adding titles/graphics, and managing audio levels.
- Demonstrated ability to take on production-oriented tasks such as resizing graphics, editing templates, and versioning materials to ensure consistent branding across all channels.
- Track record of accepting and applying feedback, collaborating across diverse teams, and taking on new challenges with enthusiasm.
- Effective organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines, and aptitude for prioritizing tasks effectively.
