General Position Summary
The Manager, Event Sales – Sponsorships & Exhibits is a motivated and organized member of the Events Business Development team. The Manager will be responsible for sales and account management of sponsorships, exhibits, and specialty services for multiple ACP events. This position is a fast-paced role that requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders while prospecting, selling, and supporting ACP’s sponsor & exhibit partners.
The Manager will interact with all levels of staff within ACP, across all departments and disciplines, and with key external stakeholders and members. Excellent communication skills, professionalism, organizational skills and a desire to learn the industry are necessary attributes for this position. The renewable energy industry is a fast paced, emerging space and ACP’s Events team reflects that and manages priorities accordingly. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Sell and manage sponsorship, exhibit, and specialty services for designated ACP events to include:
- Sales outreach to include scheduling sales calls/meetings, preparing proposals and contracts, presenting/pitching virtually or in person, generating invoices, and responding to lead inquiries.
- Identify targets in assigned region or vertical – research and develop list of potential sponsors and/or exhibitors for each designated conference.
- Generate a defined individual Sales Plan to achieve department revenue goals which meet and exceed sales goals and budgets.
- Manage sponsorships & exhibit floorplans including booth assignments and sponsor placements.
- Demonstrate proactive leadership by ensuring positive client experiences through hands-on table touches.
- Promote upsell opportunities addressing client needs and desired ROI.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key customer accounts.
- Identify and assess client needs and ACP’s ability to meet those needs through collaboration of ACP’s in-house experts.
- Collaborates with Business Development Manager to execute fulfillment of client contracted needs and provide excellent customer service.
- Updates CRM with client details and maintains precise records of conversations and agreements with clients for deliverables.
- Attends conferences, meetings, and industry events to prospect new clients and connect with existing.
- Responsible for communicating sponsorship, exhibit, and specialty services logistics and information to relative departments.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Programming, and Logistics teams to ensure all sponsorship fulfillment is completed by deadlines.
- Supports department projects as assigned by Director, Event Sales - such as new sponsorship ideas and sponsorship prospectus development.
- Travels to ACP events to provide onsite support and ensure clients are satisfied and needs are fulfilled.
Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's or associates degree in relevant field desired, or combination of education and work experience.
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in a sales role requiring database management and marketing techniques. Minimum of 1 year of experience in event sales required, trade show specific events highly desired.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Map Your Show and other CRMs preferred, CEM experience a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills such as appropriate response times, punctuality, follow through and follow up on communications and commitments.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills such as ability to meet deadlines, move initiatives forward, analyze problems and recommend and carry out solutions.
- Well versed and knowledgeable of major industry trends.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with people at all organizational levels, and the knowledge and ability to resolve conflicts.
- Provide excellent, timely and proactive customer service.
- Ability to travel (15-25%) including occasional work/travel over weekends.
- May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. with assistance and have the ability to load/unload shipments.
Job Conditions
We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $75,000- 95,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
