What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Sales Manager, Exhibits and Sponsorships position at American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)?
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the oldest national civil engineering society in America, is currently searching for a seasoned sales professional responsible for selling exhibits and sponsorships for conferences and corporate partnerships and driving ASCE's growth by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the civil engineering market. Additionally, the Senior Sales Manager will deploy ASCE's diverse product portfolio to support cross-selling and lead development, collaborating with other members of the Sales Team.
The ASCE product portfolio includes continuing education and publication offerings, membership, and media/advertising sales across ASCE's multiple platforms including magazines and digital offerings for web ads, electronic newsletters, webinars, and podcasts.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining working knowledge of company products/assets, availability, and pricing with current and potential customers
- Establishing sponsorship levels and exhibit sales revenue targets
- Providing regular status reports on current and pending sales and sales performance
- Researching and evaluating the industry, market conditions and competitive marketing information
- Preparing sales forecasts and communicating customer requirements
- Creating customized solutions to meet client needs
- Negotiating contracts and closing agreements
- Securing needed documentation and materials - contracts, insertion orders, exhibitor and sponsor registrations
- Maintaining historical and current exhibitor records in Salesforce.
- Developing and executing strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand market reach
- Preparing and delivering presentations highlighting ASCE's value proposition
- Traveling to and participating in conferences, trade shows, industry meetings and events
- Assisting with billing and collection efforts
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4-year college/university degree or equivalent related knowledge
- 4-6 years sales experience - advertising, sponsorships, and events preferred
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM (Personify experience a plus)
- Advanced competency with computer functions in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong customer service focus with a drive to close sales
- Willingness and desire for occasional travel
