General Position Summary
The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and works as part of the ACP Accounting & Finance department. In addition, this role involves collaborating with internal staff, association members, vendors, an accounting outsourcing firm, and other external contacts.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely processing, accounting, and reporting of financial transactions. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities, tax compliance, fixed asset and prepaid management, and financial reporting. This incumbent also supports contract tracking, employee expense processing, and various audit functions.

- Process, review, and manage vendor invoices in Bill.com daily, ensuring supporting documents (e.g., W-9s, contracts) are accurate and up to date.
- Communicate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure correct bill coding and submissions.
- Perform monthly accruals and account reconciliations and manage prepaid expense schedules against trial balances.
- Generate manual invoices in Protech that are not managed by the membership and conference team.
- Coordinate with the membership and conference teams to resolve invoices or payment inquiries.
- Perform daily cash applications and reconcile deposit files across CashPro bank accounts.
- Manage intercompany transactions and internal cash transfers across entities.
- Capitalize tangible and intangible assets monthly, calculate depreciation, and maintain accurate asset roll-forward schedules and reconciliations.
- Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing for accounts payable and related general ledger accounts.
- Analyze accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports, resolving discrepancies or open items.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accounts payable, accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, and Fixed Assets.
- Maintain tax documents for vendors and issue and file annual 1099 forms with the IRS for independent contractors.
- Prepare and provide audit documentation (PBC lists) and support external audits as needed.
- Ensure vendor contracts are reviewed, signed, and filed in compliance with the ACP Procurement & Contracting Policy.
- Manage cash disbursements for related entities, including 501(c)(3) and CleanPower PAC.
- Serve as a champion of internal controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to internal and external inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Stay informed on developments in accounting practices and the energy industry.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $85,000- 100,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
