Summary of essential Job functions -
- Program Horizontal Mill by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches
- Calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry, proving part programs
- Sets-up Horizontal Mill by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
- Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; Performs test operations to ensure the product is made to specifications
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Run the machine and monitoring it for problems
- Make adjustments to the operating speed based on vibrations and sounds that may indicate a malfunction
- Inspect any material from waterjet, laser, saw, and/or weldments
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
- Perform all dimensional inspections
- Operate multiple machines
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
- Perform prescribed maintenance as required; Clean and maintain equipment
- Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely

Qualifications required
- High School Diploma or equivalent education experience
- Certificate or associate's degree programs in machine or manufacturing technology
- Relevant coursework covering blueprint reading, computer-aided design, machining principles, and metals
- Minimum 1 year manufacturing experience in a machining environment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
- Familiarity with the following machines, preferred: Mighty Viper (3axis CNC bridge mill)
- Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills
- Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass
- Forklift operation experience
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated, able to work as a part of a Team with a positive attitude
- Safety conscience
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 75 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking
