Position Overview

The Flatbed Print Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining our Canon Arizona flatbed printers in a fast-paced production environment. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates who are technically inclined and eager to learn the ins and outs of large-format digital printing. The role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the company while ensuring high-quality output and meeting production deadlines. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends during peak order periods is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Printer: Set up and operate the Canon Arizona flatbed printer to produce high-quality large-format prints on various rigid and flexible substrates.
• Monitor Print Quality: Observe and ensure that prints meet the company’s quality standards, troubleshooting as necessary to maintain optimal color accuracy, resolution, and consistency.
• Job Setup: Prepare and load materials onto the flatbed printer, ensuring correct alignment and configuration for each job.
• Maintenance: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of the flatbed printer, including cleaning and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
• Order Fulfillment: Work efficiently to meet production schedules, ensuring jobs are completed on time and in compliance with customer specifications.
• Collaboration: Communicate with other departments, such as finishing, quality control, and shipping, to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of printed materials.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and operational procedures to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
• Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate logs of production activity, including job details, material usage, performed maintenance, and completed quantities.

Requirements

• Technical Capacity: While prior printing experience is not required, candidates must demonstrate a strong technical aptitude and an ability to quickly learn and adapt to operating complex machinery.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to consistently produce high-quality prints with minimal defects, following job specifications closely.
• Problem Solving: Basic troubleshooting skills to handle minor technical issues with the printer and printing process.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy substrates (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work day shifts with the possibility of overtime, weekends, and holiday shifts based on production demand.
• Team Player: Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with basic software applications; experience with RIP software or print workflow systems is a plus but not required.
• Interest in Printing: A strong interest in digital printing and a desire to grow in the industry will be considered an advantage.
• Previous Experience in a Production Environment: Any experience in a manufacturing or production-related setting will be beneficial but not essential.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Shift: Day shift (typically 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM), but flexibility is required for overtime and weekend work based on production demands.
• Physical Environment: This is a hands-on role in a production environment where the operator will be required to stand for long periods, handle materials, and work in a fast-paced, noisy setting.
• Overtime: Mandatory overtime may be required during peak seasons to meet customer orders and deadlines.
