American Eagle Paper Mills is seeking an Assistant Controller.
OPEN POSITION: Assistant Controller
SHIFT: Daylight
LOCATION: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone PA 16686
REPORTS TO: Controller
POSITION STATUS: Full Time, Salary, Exempt
Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller will perform month end closing, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, prepare financial reports and calculation of financial covenants, oversee Accounts Receivable and collection functions, assist with audit preparations, ensure adherence to general accounting practices and procedures, and perform other accounting duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate accounting functions and programs.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and board presentations.
- Prepare and record journal entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable process and collection functions.
- Track capex projects and maintain fixed asset schedules.
- Maintain a system of accounting records.
- Assist with annual audit preparations.
- Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of noncompliance.
- Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems and procedures.
- Assist with implementation of Epicor ERP system.
- Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.
- Perform other accounting duties and support staff as required.
- Observe all safety procedures.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and stress management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
- Ability to train and manage staff.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Epicor experience a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
- At least three years of accounting experience required.
- Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
