Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wastewater Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment system in a manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and the efficient treatment of wastewater. This is a 2nd shift position.
Responsibilities
Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of wastewaters entering and exiting treatment system.
Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings to determine load requirements.
Starts and stops pumps, motors, and air compressors to control flow of wastewaters through filtering, settling, and sludge dewatering processes.
Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings, such as pH and ORP to comply with permit requirements.
Collects composite and grab samples of wastewater treatment processes and discharge effluent.
Operates and performs routine maintenance on air compressors, air diaphragm pumps, electric magnetic and centrifugal pumps, and mixers and other general housekeeping duties.
Performs spot and field tests to determine if treatment equipment is operating properly.
Keeps daily inventory of treatment chemicals and monthly inventory of spare parts for pollution control equipment.
Process hazardous and non-hazardous materials as needed.
Conducts daily calibration and standardization of pH, ORP and flow meters.
Adds specified amounts of chemicals such as caustic and bleach into wastewaters or adjusts automatic devices that add specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to treat and clarify wastewaters before being discharged.
Perform other related duties that are not listed above.
Experience
- Previous experience in wastewater or water treatment operations is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
- Basic math skills for performing calculations related to treatment processes.
- Experience with maintenance tasks related to wastewater facilities is beneficial.
