POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director, Investment Support, is responsible for due diligence activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and the AEF Investment Policy Statement (IPS), requiring oversight of online investment documentation and access to audited financials. This individual will be expected to prepare for and lead regular interactions with financial advisors to discuss and document changes to investment objectives, strategies, and benchmarks, with the ability to assess the appropriateness of investments, considering tax implications and staying current on industry best practices for alternative asset management.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains oversight for online access of investment documentation, including statements and audited financials.
- Collects, reviews, and discusses next steps on required documents from alternative assets such as due diligence questionnaires, valuation questionnaires, and form K-1 and K-3.
- Discusses change to investment objectives, strategies, and benchmarks with financial advisor and document according to AEF processes.
- Assesses the appropriateness of investments with consideration for tax consequences as recommended by the advisors.
- Prepares and produce regularly scheduled and customized reports to support investment policy monitoring.
- Conducts analysis of investment accounts to ensure compliance with Investment Policy Statement.
- Keeps current on industry recommended the best practices for alternative asset management.
- Recommends process and documentation improvements.
- Researches and updates investment performance benchmarks.
- Leads projects and initiatives to meet the objectives of the investment team, such as automating reports, and updating policies and processes.
- Initiates, prepares, maintains, and documents capital call obligations, capital call payment request liquidations and/or redemptions.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required in Finance or Business Administration
- Certified Financial Analyst preferred
- 5 or more years of experience in investment industry or related field
- Advanced Microsoft Suites skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with multiple teams and individuals at various levels
- Strong problem-solving skills to be able to work with different types of investments
- Working knowledge of current federal IRS rules and regulations governing donor-advised funds preferred
