DOT Specialist
American Well Services is located in Midland, TX and provides well service rigs for the purpose of workover or completion operations. Along with the well service rigs, AWS offers a wide range of additional wellsite support services including, fluid transfer, fishing and rental services, hot oiling, frac tank rental and wellsite construction. AWS is managed by seasoned industry veterans and services blue-chip customers in the Permian Basin with a substantial asset base, strong safety culture and industry-leading operating procedures. American Well Services provides a full suite of completions and workover solutions to customers in the Permian Basin.
Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the DOT Manager, the DOT Specialist performs duties related to delivering the appropriate level of instruction in a working and learning environment that guides and encourages employees to develop and fulfill their potential to remain in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Administration (FMCSA), state and local regulations regarding Commercial Motor Vehicle laws. The position requires strong training skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in partnership with all levels of internal management, supervision, and employees.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and present MVI investigations, data analysis, driving reports and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.
- Conduct on-site and off-site reviews and audits of all company assets and locations where company equipment is located.
- Assist in the development and implementation of DOT programs, policies and best practices for all personnel.
- Conduct driver evaluations, as needed.
- Routinely conduct DOT training in both classroom and field settings.
- Respond to and provide support in all emergency situations in accordance with the regulations outlined by the FMCSA.
- Responsible for ensuring Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance including, but not limited to, tracking and monitoring drivers’ logs, CDL licenses, DOT medical examinations and random drug and alcohol testing.
- Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance logs for all tractors and trailers; ensures vehicle plates are renewed in a timely manner and placed on the correct equipment.
- Partner with operations to ensure compliance with all applicable DOT, federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental, health and safety.
Experience/Qualifications:
- A minimum of three (3) years DOT experience in the Oilfield or similar industry, required
- Extensive knowledge of DOT, FMCSA and other relevant Federal and State law related to DOT, required
- Prior experience working with CMV or similar platform, required
- Prior experience working with KPA or similar platform, preferred
- Prior experience working with GeoTab or a similar platform, preferred
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience conducting equipment inspections, required
- Class A CDL, required
- CDL endorsements, preferred
- Associates Degree in relevant field of study, preferred
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, required
- Advanced interpersonal and leadership skills, including but limited to, communication, public speaking, conflict resolution and relationship building
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and utilize critical thinking skills
- Must have acceptable driving record and ability to pass MVR, required
- Ability to clear/pass pre-employment screening, testing and job-relevant hiring requirements, required
- Ability to communicate in Spanish, preferred
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States, as required by law, required
- Travel is required for this position
- On call availability is required for this position
