General Purpose Of The Job
The Senior Investment Accounting & Reporting Analyst is responsible for performing accounting, reporting and analysis over the investment portfolios of American Equity Investment Life Insurance Holding Company and its' affiliates and subsidiaries.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares key deliverables for quarterly GAAP and Statutory investment results packages utilized by senior management, including in-depth analysis and reconciliation of investment income and realized gain/losses across all asset classes, in addition to yield analysis and projection.
- Prepares GAAP and Statutory investment disclosures and schedules such as fair value footnote, derivatives footnote, etc.
- Responsible for certain aspects of monthly and quarterly derivative accounting processes, including journal entry activity, management reports and account reconciliations.
- Work closely with third-party accounting service providers to ensure accounting and reporting of investments is performed accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with and provide analysis to various stakeholders and business leaders across the organization.
- Assist in the design, execution and documentation of investment-related SOX controls.
- Contribute to team automation and process improvement efforts.
- Perform ad hoc reporting and other project-related duties as assigned.

Education And/Or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in accounting, finance or related field of study; plus five (5) years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Prior experience and proficiency with Excel, PAM, BlackRock Aladdin, WINGS, SAP general ledger preferred.
CPA preferred.

- Knowledge of the investment industry, including financial data management and reporting.
- Knowledge of applicable GAAP and Statutory accounting rules and regulations.
