What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at American Factory Direct Furniture?
American Factory Direct Furniture is in search of a Payroll Specialist. This position requires excellent communication, computer, analytical/problem solving, and organizational skills as well as a strong "work ethic.” Payroll and confidentiality go hand in hand. The former involves executing the tasks necessary to pay employees and operate the business within applicable laws and regulations; the latter involves protecting the financial data and sensitive information used in the payroll process.
Under the direction of Human Resources and the Controller, as the Payroll Specialist, your mission will be to execute every aspect of the payroll cycle including:
· Performs all activities necessary to process bi-weekly and commission payrolls
· Ensures compliance
· Maintains accurate payroll records
· Files tax reports and voluntary deduction reports
· Processes involuntary deductions, such as garnishments and levies
· Maintains time off accruals and benefits
· Administers benefit plans
· Prepares accounting transactions and documents
· Documents and updates procedures
· Prepares special reports for management
To be effective in the role as Payroll Specialist, you will need:
- Experience in payroll processing.
- Experience in benefits administration.
- Knowledge of general accounting functions.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Human Resources or related field and/or payroll certification and/or equivalent relevant experience.
The ideal candidate would possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Human Resources with a minimum of 4 years of Payroll, Benefits Administration, and/or Accounting professional work experience. Experience with ADP payroll software is preferable.
