POSITION PURPOSE:
The Tissue Room Technician in the fabrication room is responsible for following procedures to process animals, achieving goals set by Tissue Room Supervisor on line speed, and quality of work. This position contributes to the Tissue Floor operations running safely, smoothly, efficiently, cleanly and humanely. Employees must remain in compliance at all times, and contribute to team efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Participate in the preparation of the Tissue room, workstation, equipment, and tools prior to start of processing.
Responsible to harvest, collect, process and package tissue.
The tissue tech collects and processes organs, dermis, ligament, and tissue.
Safe, efficient, and precise use of cutting knives and tools in trained areas.
Cross train in other abattoir areas and activities as needed.
The tissue tech is proficient on tissue preparation and the 3-4 pieces of equipment used to process the tissue
Comply with HAACP Plan, USDA guidelines, Humane Handling Procedure and MRS procedures and report any non-compliance to management.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Proper PPE use, care, maintenance and cleanliness.
Avoid cross contamination between dirty and clean areas or outside production floor.
Follow GMP and sanitation practices when maintaining and cleaning fabrication room equipment.
Take on additional responsibilities as directed by management.
Demonstrate effective communication skills.
Interact professionally with team members and contract personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of working in a harvest facility is strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience in a harvest facility preferred but not required
