PSL Purchasing Agent

Description

General Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent provides technical support to the purchasing process which includes, but is not limited to, processing bid and purchasing documents; responding to inquiries; and maintaining vendor/source information.  The Purchasing Agent may also be required to assist with the procurement of materials, equipment, supplies, and services in the most economical and timely manner consistent with the plant’s operating requirements.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Assists with purchasing all materials, equipment, and services required for the efficient operation of the Newton, North Carolina plant.
• Maintains purchasing documents, files, and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies.
• Coordinates vendor meetings with the appropriate plant personnel, as needed.
• Assists with obtaining competitive bids for contractual work and with coordinating the vendor selection process.
• Partners with the Lead Purchasing Agent in expediting and ensuring follow-up on delivery of materials and services when necessary.
• Responds to inquiries of staff and administration regarding purchasing procedures for the purpose of providing information, direction, and/or referral for addressing inquiry.
• Reviews documents and data (i.e., incoming requisitions, past purchases, reconciliations, inventories, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completeness and accuracy of the Company’s purchasing process.
• Partners with the Lead Purchasing Agent in monitoring spend; proactively seeks ways to reduce costs.
• Generates and processes Purchase Orders (POs).
• Maintains filing system and updates records, as required.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Supports any efforts to maintain high-quality standards as defined by BRC and other plant-wide initiatives to help the parent-company, local company and the department

• Has computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Maximo and AX
• Associate Degree 3 years of vendor price negotiation skills and/or customer experience in a manufacturing environment desired

Salary : $44,064 - $66,096
