What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Compounder / Mixer position at American Gas & Chemical Co Ltd?
Mixing, setting up aerosol machine. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. You will receive extensive training but mechanical and mathematical ability is expected, as is a good working knowledge of the English language. You must understand each chemical, its hazards and the preventive equipment needed to work with them. Many chemicals look the same or have similar names, you much be able to clearly distinguish one from another.
MIXING:
- Mixing accurate batches of chemicals from gallons to hundreds of gallons.
- Keeping accurate records of each mix.
- Keeping mixing and production areas clean and orderly.
- Maintaining a retain system for all batches mixed.
SAFETY:
Keep updated on the safety procedures and requirements for each chemical and machine used.
Understand and use Safety Data Sheets .
Make sure that every drum has proper labeling and that flammable and hazardous materials are stored properly.
Use the safety equipment and or respirators required and make sure that other workers do also. Making sure that those, you supervise are properly trained in safety procedures.
Be aware and follow Covid-19 Guidelines.
AEROSOL LINE:
Calibrating aerosol filling pump and the gas filler, cleaning the aerosol line for production changeover.
QUALITY:
- Help solve quality problems.
- Run quality tests as required.
- Be conscious of quality at all times (every mix must be exact).
- Follow all quality procedures at all times.
- All containers delivered to inventory or shipping should be labeled neatly and packed professionally and carefully.
- Incoming inspection of raw materials.
PRODUCTION:
Helping other people working on the production line when you can without needing to be asked.
Proficient in setting up, maintenance of specialty equipment including labeling machine, filling equipment and batch printer. Helping maintain and repair all equipment in Chemical area.
FORKLIFT:
Proficient in operation of forklift and certified in its use.
COMPUTER:
Use the computer for information printouts, to lookup and store batch information, and enter work orders.
ENVIRONMENT:
Maintain the chemical area and all waste storage in such a manner as to assure that there is no contamination and that all environmental and hazardous waste regulations are fully complied with.
INTERNAL CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Know your products as well as the chemicals. You provide an important service to sales and customer service as well as our external customers. On time deliveries, flexibility and cheerfulness in dealing with other company employees is required.
MAINTENANCE:
All machines and containers need to be maintained in a clean, ready to use fashion. Maintenance work on the building at the request of the Chemical Supervisor.
INVENTORY:
You should work with inventory to make sure that all raw materials and work-in-process are accurately maintained and carefully stored. Report on shortages and expected out-of-stock items.
Entering purchase requests for raw materials.
HOUSEKEEPING:
Keeping your work area clean, orderly and free of any spills is important from the standpoint of safety, heath, efficiency and quality. The production and mixing area must be maintained spotlessly.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
3 years elated experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least two continuous years working with chemicals.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract up to four digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's, 100's and 1000's in fractions and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurements, volume and distance. Math conversions: gallons to ccs, pounds to grams, etc.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed involving writing and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables and standardized situations.
