Position Overview :
As an Infrastructure Engineering Risk Manager, you will use your technical expertise to support insurance and surety placements by conducting risk assessments and technical analyses. Your role bridges the gap between construction and insurance, helping all parties understand the technical, financial, and contractual aspects of projects to optimize risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities :
- Technical Analysis & Risk Assessment : Review project designs, schedules, and cost breakdowns to create technical reviews for non-engineers. Identify key risks and collaborate with the team to assess coverage and alternative mitigants.
- Insurance Advisory & Submissions : Lead discussions on project exposures and limits, and prepare technical sections for insurance submissions, accurately presenting project risks.
- Project Leadership & Client Collaboration : Support and eventually lead insurance advisory mandates, working with clients to clarify contract risk allocations and acting as a liaison between contractors and insurance professionals.
- Knowledge Transfer & Guidance : Help contractors understand how insurance mitigates risks, while providing insights to insurance teams on project risks and complexities.
- Research & Thought Leadership : Analyze project and market data to support research initiatives and contribute to industry thought leadership.
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5 years in engineering, project consulting, insurance property teams, or underwriting with an engineering background.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting design and construction documentation.
- Ability to evaluate technical risks in engineering and insurance contexts.
- Familiarity with risk management or surety concepts preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex information to varied audiences.
