Job Details
Job Purpose
The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure swimming pool environment for members and guests by monitoring use and responding to any emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Acknowledges, greets, and thanks all members and guests
- Ensures member/guest enjoyment and safety by overseeing daily activity within the pool environment including: observing swimmers in the pool and pool area to ensure safety at all times
- Enforcing pool rules as established by club management and the Aquatics Director
- Monitoring sanitation requirements by checking water conditions for chlorine and Ph and dispensing chemicals as needed
- Vacuuming and cleaning the pools
- Respond immediately to any emergency following proper CPR, First Aid or Lifeguard Training methods as indicated
- Other applicable duties that may be assigned by management and/or the Club's Aquatics Director

Qualifications
- Current CPR training and certification required
- Proven ability to motivate swimmers and parents in a positive manner
- Must demonstrate personal and professional organization and ability to coach different age levels
- Must have good leadership and communication skills
- Interest and ability to work with children
- Ability to effectively communicate with members, guests, co-workers and management
Education
- High School Diploma preferred
- Red Cross (or similar) lifesaving certification
- CPR/AED training
- 1-2 years of lifeguard experience is preferred

Working Conditions
- Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
- Weekend and holiday work will be required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
