What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Business Partner position at American Gypsum?
Salary Compensation: $80,000-$115,000 per year
REGULAR DUTIES
- Manage the recruitment process. Implement creative ways to source talent.
- Proactively identify opportunities and assess improvements to the employee experience and partner with Operations to develop and implement innovative and lasting solutions.
- Ensure employee inquiries are answered and/or properly addressed in a timely manner.
- Assess training needs and implement training programs.
- Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
- Perform periodic audits of people data and work with Corporate HR to reconcile any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Corporate HR for employees on Disability, LOA, FMLA, Light Duty, Modified Duty, and Restricted Duty.
- Manage a Payroll Assistant and assist with payroll processing as needed.
- Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Act as a resource for plant management to provide information that will allow appropriate decisions to be made.
- Conduct routine trainings with the workforce for plant policies and leadership initiatives.
- Collaborate on succession planning with department managers.
- Develop knowledge of the wallboard production process and the workforce.
- Work in conjunction with other department managers & employees to solve problems and improve plant safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Actively pursue process/people improvement ideas & solutions.
- Develop personal knowledge of American Gypsum Company policies, procedures, and culture.
- Oversee the plant engagement committee, including organization of community and employee events.
- All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in HR or Business.
- At least 3 years of experience in HR or related field.
- People oriented, customer service and results driven.
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases. We use UKG.
- Excellent active listening and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
- Proven planning and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong skills using Microsoft Suite especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Can multi-task and work in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self starter.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to develop detailed plans to accomplish business goals then execute the plan.
- Must be able and willing to adapt to changing conditions to achieve set business goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- SAFETY
Actively implement and participate in all safety programs, rules, and procedures. Maintain proactive working habits with all plant personnel to continuously improve overall safety. Maintain safe working conditions through established housekeeping programs. Ensure compliance with all American Gypsum Safety Program requirements.

Collaborate with department managers to conduct policy and development training for the workforce.

Participate in and implement all established company policies. Act as a role model in compliance and enforcement for all personnel
- PLANT KNOWLEDGE
Actively engage in plant processes. Expand knowledge of wallboard making process.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed mainly in the manufacturing plant, office, and mine.

Regular work hours are Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Must be available for call-ins if necessary.
