We are currently looking for a 3rd Shift Plant Supervisor to add to our team located at our York, PA facility. We are a tight-knit group that takes a great deal of pride in what we produce. Job Description
The 3rd Shift Plant Supervisor plays a critical role in the effective operation of the shop, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. This position works closely with the Plant Manager and pier supervisors to plan, coordinate, and execute daily operations. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all tasks are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Work Planning and Coordination :
Collaborate with the Plant Manager and pier supervisors to develop and implement work plans.
Review and execute work instructions from the preceding shift and effectively communicate instructions to the following shift.Monitor workflow to ensure projects are completed on schedule and align with production goals.Safety and Compliance :Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address any hazards or incidents.Personnel Management :Supervise, train, and mentor shop personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
Conduct performance evaluations and ensure the execution of personnel development plans.Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.Approve team member timecards in HRMS system.Operational Efficiency :Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure optimal functionality, scheduling preventive maintenance as needed.
Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.Manage resources effectively to minimize waste and ensure efficient use of materials and labor.Essential Functions Performed by the Position
Responsible for the training and development of the New Hires, Apprentices and Co-ops on their shift.Promote a culture of safety and adherence to policies across their shift.Directs the work force in a timely and efficient manner.Follows up to see that assignments are carried out.Checks the quality of work in process and finished work.Provides training as necessary.Works with Maintenance department to keep all equipment maintained and in good working condition.Assist with production work to maintain schedules.Keep Plant Manager informed of any problems with manufacturing safety or personnel problems.Inform supervisors, plant manager, and maintenance manager of any maintenance problems.Support Machine Shop Team Lead in regard to safety, schedule, and quality.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven experience in a supervisory role within a fabrication or machine shop environment.Strong understanding of fabrication processes, machining techniques, and related equipment.Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teamsKnowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma, is a plus.Proficiency in using computer software, including MS Office and ERP systems.Experience with welding and fabrication processesDetail orientedAbility to problem solveAbility to determine work priorities and delegate work to othersTime management skillsCritical thinking skillsQualifications
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required; advanced technical or vocational training preferred; 10 years’ experience requiredRelevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, Lean / Six Sigma, welding certifications) are advantageousLicenses or Certifications Required
