Job Summary:
The Receiving and Inventory Associate is responsible for accurately receiving, recording, and organizing incoming shipments, as well as maintaining inventory levels within the warehouse. This role ensures that all goods are properly inspected, documented, and stored, while supporting inventory control processes to minimize discrepancies. The Receiving and Inventory Associate will also be responsible for unloading and loading containers and trucks using a forklift or pallet jack, requiring forklift certification. This role plays a key part in maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of warehouse inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving Duties:
- Inspect and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy.
- Record received items in the inventory management system, ensuring all data is entered correctly and promptly.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the supervisor or appropriate department.
- Label and organize goods received for proper storage or distribution.
- Assist in unloading and unpacking shipments as needed.
Inventory Management:
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Assist in reconciling inventory discrepancies and investigating root causes.
- Monitor stock levels and notify supervisors of low inventory or potential shortages.
- Organize and maintain inventory storage areas to ensure easy access and proper stock rotation (e.g., FIFO).
- Assist in processing returns, damaged goods, and obsolete inventory.
Loading and Unloading:
- Safely and efficiently unload and load containers, trucks, and other vehicles using a forklift or pallet jack.
- Ensure all goods are handled carefully to prevent damage during loading and unloading.
- Verify that outgoing shipments match shipping documents and are properly staged for transport.
- Maintain accurate records of all loading and unloading activities.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all receiving, inventory, and shipping transactions.
- Prepare and submit reports on receiving activities, inventory counts, and discrepancies as required.
- Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and regulatory requirements.
General Warehouse Support:
- Assist in picking, packing, and shipping orders as needed.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks) safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including receiving, storage, and loading areas.
- Follow all safety protocols and report any hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 years of experience in receiving, inventory control, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Forklift certification is preferred.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
- Proficient in excel and basic computer skills with familiarity in inventory management software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling data and physical goods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for extended periods.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety practices is a plus.
Work Environment:
- This role operates in a warehouse setting and may involve exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
