What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Services Supervisor-Stockroom/Shipping position at American Kennel Club?
The Distribution Services Supervisor supervises all distribution services and operations, including fulfillment, outbound mail, and shipping services, receiving and office services, and coordination with our offsite warehouse. The role also serves as a primary backup to the Supervisor, Inbound Mail Services.
*This is an onsite role in our Raleigh office.
Primary Job Duties
- Effectively supervises personnel and operations to ensure timely fulfillment, receiving and facilities support. Maintains adequate procedures and controls to ensure accuracy and quality control in receiving AKC printed materials, pulling, packing, and shipping materials and supplies.
- Monitors productivity standards established by the Manager for the Distribution staff and upholds performance to these standards.
- Coordinates inventory product & pallet shipments between AKC office & offsite warehouse; monitors replenishment of inventory stock and bin location size requirements.
- Ensure employees are properly trained on Distribution and Outbound Mail operation tasks and evaluate if any areas of re-training are needed; develop training plans if applicable.
- Compiles and completes all department statistics and reporting and provides monthly reports to Management.
- Monitors daily workflow to ensure that all orders and shipping service level agreements are met and maintained in accordance with department goals and standards.
- Schedules appropriate preventative machine maintenance, service calls & assists Sr. Manager with review of equipment replacement as needed.
- Maintains written operating procedures for the Distribution Services department as approved by the Sr. Manager of Inbound Mail & Distribution Services.
- Provides Manager with vital information pertaining to supply and packaging material usage within the Distribution Services department as it pertains to budget planning and forecasting. Advises and aids IT as needed regarding equipment issues/updates etc.
- Back up for daily postage chargeback data entry & serves as a backup for the monthly chargeback reconciliation, rotational basis.

Required Skills, Specialized Knowledge and Competency Requirements
- Previous leadership/supervisory experience in a production environment or warehouse setting is required.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive knowledge of warehouse and inventory control procedures/processes.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills, oral and written communication skills, and effective interpersonal and personnel supervisory skills and abilities.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate sound decision-making, problem-solving skills; set priorities and accomplish assigned tasks within established deadlines.
- Ability to perform staff training and development.
