Job Description
As a Principal Advisor for Strategic Philanthropy, you will shape and drive our national strategy for Relational Individual Giving, focusing on engaging high-opportunity audiences, including unassigned donors and the broader charitable mass landscape, to generate leads, drive engagement, and increase revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and integrate strategic initiatives across verticals and territories, targeting priority audiences for Relational Individual Giving.
- Partner with senior leadership to set the national strategic direction, engaging donors, prospects, and supporters.
- Create and launch activations to ensure effective, measurable outcomes of initiatives and tests implemented by key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with colleagues, peers, and external partners to achieve strategic goals, leveraging your strategic thinking and ability to connect the dots across various initiatives.
- Communicate effectively to motivate teams, plan and analyze strategies, and manage projects with a future-focused mindset.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expert skill in working within a complex, matrixed environment at a senior individual contributor level.
- Strong capabilities in strategy development, team motivation, planning and analysis, organization, and project management.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, peers, and external partners.
- Solid understanding and demonstrated skillset in fundraising from individuals, with a focus on diverse audiences and donor relationships.
- Extensive knowledge of diverse donor audiences, including donor motivations, culturally relevant cultivation techniques, and familiarity with diverse national groups and organizations.
- Flexibility to travel nationally on weekends and evenings, as necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and telephone skills, with a desire to build relationships with supporters of St. Jude.
- High degree of concentration and attention to determine the strategic direction of philanthropy programs and activations.
- Clear and effective communication skills for internal and external relations.
- Proficiency in data processing applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Critical thinking skills to understand and navigate complex verbal or written instructions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or more than 8 years of successful fundraising experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in major and principal gifts, bequests, planned giving, and the philanthropic marketplace.
This position will be based at our National Executive Office in Memphis, TN and be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
