QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Office Management, Education Administration, or a related field is preferred
- 2 years of administrative experience in an office setting required; experience in a school or educational environment is often preferred
- Familiarity with school management systems (e.g., PowerSchool, SIS) or similar software
- Experience in managing scheduling, attendance, communications, and record-keeping
- Works well with students, staff, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Maintains confidentiality of staff and students
JOB SUMMARY
The Office Manager at a school is responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of the school office, ensuring that administrative tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This role involves managing daily office functions such as answering phones, responding to emails, handling correspondence, maintaining student and staff records, and assisting with scheduling meetings and appointments. The Office Manager also plays a key role in coordinating communications between staff, students, parents, and external vendors. Additionally, they may oversee inventory management, process invoices, assist with budgeting and payroll, and support the school’s leadership team with general administrative duties. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Office Manager is also expected to be a helpful resource for the school community, offering customer service and assistance to parents and staff as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering and managing phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries
- Managing office supplies and maintaining inventory
- Assisting with student enrollment, attendance, and communication with parents regarding student matters
- Managing budgets, payroll, or assisting the principal with financial tasks
