General Information
American Lighting is a quickly growing mid-size company near downtown Denver looking for a Buyer with 8 years of experience. This role will lead the retail buying business to collaborate with overseas factories for some of the largest retailers in the US. This is a rapid-paced position with frequent tight project schedules. Due to the collaborative nature of our projects, American Lighting is in the office 40 hours per week and supported by the Associate Buyer doing much of the routine reordering.
Job Responsibilities Include:
1. Oversee key buying initiatives (new factory onboarding, country transitions, factory swaps, troubleshooting growing/decreasing forecasts from retailers, etc.)
2. Monitor the routine ordering and planning performed by the Associate Buyer in the division
3. Travel 1-2 times per year to Asia for up to 2-week spans
4. Manage the schedule of projects and communicate if a project falls off allowed schedule
5. Negotiate with vendors on cost down and improved payment terms
6. Monitor exchange rates and raw material costs for opportunities to find savings
7. Weekly overseas evening call and occasional evening WeChat for urgent projects
Candidates must have the following skills to apply:
1. International buying and importing experience (8 years)
2. Experience with vendors buying lighting or similar technology items around Asia
3. Past experience collaborating with or working for America’s largest retailers
4. Microsoft Excel – Intermediate-High
5. Bachelor’s Degree (prefer Master’s Degree)
Candidates with these additional skills will be given preference:
1. Mandarin Chinese Language
2. Experience working in sales or buying role with large US retailers
3. Freight forwarding, international shipping, HTS codes
4. Experience working with international vendors
5. Oracle Fusion ERP system to input POs
*Interviews will consist of 15-minute preview call, a few candidates will be selected to continue with interviews on site
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
