What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at American Locker?
We’re seeking an experienced controller to oversee this high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in our industry with experience in a turnaround organization, and preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will streamline our budgeting and financial reporting processes as well as focus on cost accounting for manufacturing. The controller will also produce thorough financial status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.
Duties/Responsibilities.
· Analyze production data, including volume, cost, and performance metrics, to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
· Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
· Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
· Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions
· Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
· Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
· Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis
· Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
· Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
· Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the organization's financial performance.
· Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets, monitor budgetary performance, and provide guidance on financial targets and cost management.
· Ensure compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings.
· Oversee treasury management, including cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and banking relationships.
· Any other duty as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity. Oversees training programs and identifies training needs for a staff of 2-4 employees.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
· Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
· Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes
· Exemplary history of financial project management
· Excellent management and supervisory skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education/Experience Required:
· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
· Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
· Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant), preferred.

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
· Able to travel as needed.
