Job Description
The Jr. Engineer’s role is to provide backup for multiple engineering teams in the company, and to be a contributor to multiple teams in the company. In the role, you will work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and the Mechanical Engineering team in various capacities. Examples of the work you will perform include; creating Bill of Materials (BOMS), releasing work orders and routers to the factory, performing QA engineering feedback and QA reviews, and guiding production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives.
Duties / Responsibilities.
- Assisting the other members of the Production Team and reporting to the VP of Operations.
- Developing cost of goods sold reports for new and existing products.
- Liaising with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs and the Labor required.
- Overall use of day-to-day software for production needs.
- Management of fabricated BOMs and material movement throughout the factory.
- Provide engineering support to the Production Supervisors and their respective departments in relation to BOMs, drawing queries and manufacturing problems.
- Responsible for updating engineering drawings on the factory floor.
- Responsible for drawing up one-off parts and following the parts through the manufacturing process.
- Review and make improvements to standard processes and operating procedures.
- Specific focus on eliminating scrap material / waste
- Implementing engineering changes in ECNs and NPRs.
- Implementing new tooling and jigs.
- Engineer drawings to be vetted and corrected for manufacturing needs.
- Pay attention to specifications – in particular bespoke items, either new or changed machines and alert the production team for issues to look out for / be aware of, on an order-by-order basis.
- Providing technical support and training for members of the manufacturing and assembly teams.
- Drafting manufacturing documentation.
- Meeting project deadlines.
- Any other duty as assigned.
