As Director I, Conference Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the Conference and Events department of the AMA. This hybrid position reports into our Chicago, IL office.
Responsibilities :
Event Oversight & Planning
- Determine goals, objectives and measures for the unit; monitor and report on progress / risks to all stakeholders.
- Responsible for the development and management of a multi-million dollar budget; determine event budgets.
- Define and oversee AMA meeting standards and best practices; oversee the development of processes for repeatability and scalability of events.
- Direct the site selection, contract and rate negotiation for multiple, major external AMA meetings to ensure location amenities meet high quality standards.
- Develop event marketing and communication plans.
- Provide advice and counsel to Leaders in event management best practices.
- Conduct research to identify new event opportunities for the organization.
- Provide recommendations on current software and tools to support large events.
- Review post event analysis and feedback, to incorporate into future event plans.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with other key stakeholders and develop and maintain relationships internally and externally to enhance meeting services.
- Responsible for providing management and / or support in assisting with meeting logistics for internal and external meetings.
- Coordinate and provide on-site management for AMA Board of Trustees and WMA Council and Assembly meetings.
- Oversee the meeting registration, housing functions and travel logistics for meetings.

The salary range for this position is $120,360-$162,180. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Employees are also eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
